DELAVNICA - WORKSHOP
Po izdelavi Eduardovih maket Fw-190 A8/R2 in Mig-a21 mi je ostala cela množica sestavnih delov,
pravzaprav sta bili škatli še vedno polni. Tako sem se odločil, da iz teh delov naredim športni
avto, ki sem ga imenoval King Cobra-Twin Turbo Hybrid.
After assembling the Eduard models Fw-190 A8/R2 and Mig 21, I had a whole bunch of parts left; the two boxes were, in fact, still full. So I decided to build a sports car which I called King Cobra-Twin Turbo Hybrid.
Pri Fw-190 mi je ostal še en trup letala in trije pokrovi kabine(canopy) kar mi je predstavljalo
osnovo za izdelavo avtomobila.
I had the body and three canopies left from the Fw-190 plane which would provide the basis for my car.
1. NAČRT IN IZDELAVA TRUPA – DESIGN AND CONSTRUCTION OF THE BODY
V začetku sem potreboval osnovne skice s katerimi sem določil dimenzije in obliko avtomobila.
First, I needed rough sketches to define the dimensions and the shape of the car.
Iz plastike sem naredil 4 pregrade s katerimi sem povezal obe polovici trupa v pravilno obliko. Zgornji sprednji del sem zaključil z 1mm debelim stirenom.
I made 4 partitions from plastic to connect both halves of the body into the proper shape. I finished the front upper part with 1mm thick styrene.
2. KABINA – THE INTERIOR
Najprej sem iz stirena izdelal dno in zadnjo steno kabine nato pa še sprednjo steno in osrednjo konzolo.
First, I used styrene to make the bottom and the back wall of the interior, then the front wall and the center console.
Sledila je izdelava stranskih sten, prestavne ročice, naslonjala za roke, pedalov in nekaterih drobnih delov. Tepihe sem izdelal iz narebričene folije od nekih zdravil. Sedeže sem prav tako izdelal iz stirena različnih debelin.
Next, I made the side walls, the gearshift lever, the hand rests, the foot pedals and some small parts. The floor mats are made from the ribbed foil packaging of some drugs. The seats are also made from styrene of various thicknesses.
Instrumentna plošča na osrednji konzoli je narejena iz pločevine foto jedkanih delov(photo etched parts). Okrogle instrumente sem izrezal iz jedkanih delov, ki so mi ostali od Mig-a21.
The dashboard of the central console is made from the metal of photo-etched parts. I carved the round instruments out of the etched parts left from the Mig 21.
3. SPREDNJI DEL AVOMOBILA – THE CAR FRONT
Sprednji del avtomobila(zadnji del Fw-190) sem skrajšal za 6mm in spodaj dodal še manjši hladilnik. Mrežica na zgornjem hladilniku je od cedila za čaj,za spodnji hladilnik pa sem uporabil mrežico od pokvarjenega espresso aparata.
I shortened the car front (the back of the Fw-190) by 6mm, adding a small cooler at the bottom. I used a tea strainer to make the mesh of the upper cooler and the mesh of a broken espresso machine to make the bottom cooler.
4. DOKONČNO OBLIKOVANJE KAROSERIJE IN KABINE –
FINAL CONSTRUCTION OF THE BODYWORK AND THE INTERIOR
Najprej sem izdelal zadnjo steno in pokrov motorja, ki je iz več plasti stirena.
First, I made the back wall and the hood, for which I used several layers of styrene.
Na pokrov motorja sem prilepil še dva ščitnika za glavo. Izdelal sem ju iz 800 litrskega rezervoarja od Mig-a21. Iz aluminijaste pločevine sem naredil še odprtine za izpušne cevi.
I then glued two head pads on the hood of the car. The head pads are made from an 800-liter tank of the Mig 21. I also made exhaust outlets out of aluminum sheet metal.
Dno avtomobila je iz 1mm debelega stirena in služi tudi za osnovo blatnikov. Na vsako stran avtomobila sem prilepil še vstopnika za zrak (airscoop). Naredil sem jih iz podkrilnih nosilcev za topove od stare Monogramove makete Fw-190 A5.
The bottom of the car is made from 1mm thick styrene which also provides the basis for the fenders. On each side of the car, I glued airscoops which I made out of the underwing cannon carriers of an old Monogram model of the Fw-190 A5.
Sledila je izdelava okvirja za vetrobransko steklo,ki je na vrhu ukrivljeno. Osnova okvirja je iz 0,5mm debelega stirena. Da bi zadržal krivino na vrhu in da je okvir kompakten,sem v njegovo notranjost namestil injekcijsko iglo 0,7mm. Ležišče za vetrobransko steklo je iz pločevine foto jedkanih delov.
Next, I constructed the frame of the windshield which is bent at the top. The basis for the frame is made from 0.5mm thick styrene. In order for it to hold the bend at the top and to ensure the robustness of the frame, I put a 0.7mm thick injection needle inside it. The bed of the windshield is made from the metal of photo-etched parts.
Vzvratna ogledala so narejena iz reševalnih čolnov od stare Airfixove vojne ladje 1:700.
I made the rear-view mirrors from the life boats of an old Airfix waship 1:700.
Naslednji korak je bila izdelava konzol z instrumenti in predalom v kabini. V ta namen sem na usreznem mestu in pod določenim kotom razrezal oba pokrova kabine(canopy) od Fw-190. Oba sprednja dela (pravzaprav zadnja) sem prilepil na karoserijo na mestu kjer bo okvir z vetrobranskim steklom.
The next step was to build the instrument consoles and compartments in the interior. To that end, I cut the two canopies of the Fw-190 in the appropriate place and at the appropriate angle. I glued both fronts (or former backs) to the bodywork where the frame of the windshield would be.
Oba preostala dela pa sem prilepil v notranjost kabine kot voznikovo konzolo z instrumenti in sovoznikovo konzolo s predali. Sredinska konzola je samogradnja(scratch build)iz stirena. Voznikovi instrumenti so samogradnja,instrumente za sredinsko konzolo pa sem izrezal iz jedkanih delov, ki so mi ostali od Mig-a21.
I then glued the other two parts in the interior as the driver’s dashboard and the passenger’s compartment console. The center console was scratch-built from styrene. The driver’s instruments were also scratch-built while the instruments for the center console were cut out of the photo-etged parts I had left from the Mig 21.
5. KOLESA – THE WHEELS
Še od mladosti imam dirkalno stezo Carrera 1:24 (slot car racing track Carrera 1:24). Za izdelavo tega avtomobila sem žrtvoval en avto in uporabil tale kolesa:
In order to make this vehicle, I sacrificed a car from the slot car racing track Carrera 1:24 which I’ve had since I was a boy and used the following wheels:
6. SPREDNJI BLATNIKI – THE FRONT FENDERS
Najprej je bil potreben natančen načrt.
First I needed an accurate design.
Zgornja površina blatnika je sestavljena iz dveh krivin in dveh ravnih delov. Krivine sem izdelal iz 1mm debelega stirena s toplotnim preoblikovanjem. Za to sem potreboval kalup, ki sem ga izdelal iz balse in stirena.
The upper surface of the fender consists of two bends and two straight parts. I made the bends from 1mm thick styrene using thermoforming. For that I needed a mold which I made out of balsa and styrene.
Izdelal sem še bočne površine, povezavo med blatnikom in trupom avtomobila ter nekaj detajlov v notranjosti blatnika.
I then went on to make the sides, the link between the fender and the car body and a few details inside the fender.
7. ZADNJI BLATNIKI – REAR FENDERS
Izdelavi načrtov je sledila izdelava kalupa.
After sketching the design, I went on to make the mold.
Zgornje površine sem naredil s toplotnim preoblikovanjem v dveh delih. Stranske površine so iz 0,5mm debelega stirena, rešetke na zadnji strani pa so debeline 0,3mm.
The upper surfaces were made using thermoforming in two phases. The sides are made from 0.5mm thick styrene and the grid on the back is 0.3mm thick.
8. BARVANJE – PAINTING
Pred barvanjem sem na sprednji pokrov dodal še izboklino za katero sem uporabil preostanek
800 litrskega rezervoarja od Mig-a21.
Avto je rdeče in črne barve. Po prvem sloju prozornega laka sem na rdeče površine dodal še sloj rdečega prosojnega laka(Tamiya X-27,clear red). Sledilo je še več slojev prozornega laka.
Before I started painting, I added a bulge to the hood, for which I used the remainder of the 800-liter tank of the Mig 21.
The car is painted red and black. Following the first layer of clear-coat varnish, I added a layer of clear-red Tamiya X-27 to the red surfaces. This was followed by several more layers of clear-coat varnish.
9. KABINA – THE INTERIOR
Na vsako stran sprednje konzole sem namestil Quickboostove vstopnike za zrak(airscoop) za
Mig-a21(del 4). Sredinsko vzvratno ogledalo je samogradnja.
I put Mig 21 Quickboost airscoops (part 4) on each side of the front console. The rearview mirror was scratch-built.
Naslonjala za glavo so iz okroglih odlitkov na Eduardovih smrečicah(Eduards sprue) in delov za kolesne prostore pri Fw-190(del J-4 in J-9). Varnostni pasovi so od HGW-jevega kompleta za nemške lovce(1:32).
The head-rests are made from round casts on Eduard sprues and parts for wheel slots of the Fw-190 (parts J-4 and J-9). The seatbelts are from a HGW German fighter jet set.
Volanski obroč sem izdelal tako, da sem od kemičnega svinčnika izrezal krog, za prečke in sredinski del pa sem uporabil stiren in injekcijske igle.
I made the steering wheel by cutting out the circular part of a pen for the wheel itself and used styrene and injection needles for the spokes and the central part.
10. VETROBRANSKO STEKLO IN STRANSKA STEKLA –
THE WINDSHIELD AND SIDE WINDOWS
Samo vetrobransko steklo sem namestil že v začetku, v tej fazi pa sem izdelal sprednjo masko in sicer iz PE dela št.1(Eduard Mig-21MF exterior). Brisalci so samogradnja.
The windshield had already been installed in the beginning; in this phase, I made the front mask out of PE part no. 1 (Eduard Mig-21 MF exterior). The wipers were scratch-built.
Za stranska stekla sem najprej izdelal kalup. S toplotnim preoblikovanjem prozorne plastike sem najprej dobil osnovno obliko, nato pa z rezanjem in brušenjem prišel do želene oblike.
For the side windows, I first made a mold. I used thermoforming of transparent plastic to get the basic shape, then cut and smoothed it down into the desired shape.
11. SPREDNJE LUČI - THE HEADLIGHTS
Sprednje luči sem izdelal iz raketnih lanserjev od Fw-190. Zgornja luč je iz delov J-13 in J-16, spodnja pa iz delov J-5. Za stekla na zgornji luči sem uporabil pristajalno luč od Mig-a21(del G-2). Za steklo na spodnji luči pa sem uporabil okrogle odlitke od Eduardove smrečice. Smerniki so pozicijske luči od Mig-a21. Na zadnjo stran vseh luči sem prilepil alu folijo.
The headlights are made out of the Fw-190 rocket launchers. The upper light is from parts J-13 and J-16 and the bottom light is from part J-5. I used the Mig 21 landing light (part G-2) for the glass shield of the upper light and round molds of an Eduard spruce for the glass shield of the bottom light. The indicator lights are from the Mig 21. I glued tin foil on the back of all the lights.
Centralne luči so samogradnja.
The central lights were scratch-built.
12. ZADNJE LUČI – THE TAIL LIGHTS
Obroče zadnjih luči sem izdelal iz odebelitev, ki jih ima raketni lanser(Fw-190 del J-5). Za stekla sem uporabil 3mm-ske diode.
The circular parts of tail lights were made from the protruding parts of a rocket launcher (Fw-190, part J-5). I used 3mm diodes for the glass shields.
Za smernike na zadnjih blatnikih sem uporabil periskopska vzvratna ogledala od Mig-a21
(del G-14 in G-17).
For the rear fender indicators, I used the periscopic rearview mirrors of the Mig 21
(parts G-14 and G-17).
13. SPREDNJI IN ZADNJI SPOILER – THE FRONT AND BACK SPOILERS
Oba spoilerja sta iz 0,5mm debelega stirena.
Both spoilers are made from 0.5 mm thick styrene.
Zadnji spoiler je dvokrilen in ukrivljen. Krivino sem naredil tako, da sem z gravirno iglo vrezal zareze v razmaku 1mm. Stiren sem nato ukrivil v želeno obliko, zareze pa zapolnil s trenutnim lepilom.
The back spoiler is two-winged and bent. I made the bend by cutting notches 1mm apart with an engraving pen. Then I bent the styrene into the desired shape and filled the notches with instant glue.
14. NAZIV IN ZNAK AVTOMOBILA – THE CAR NAME AND EMBLEM
Avto se imenuje King Cobra-Twin Turbo Hybrid(TTH), znak za avto pa je krona. Prijatelj "Modus" je vse skupaj oblikoval, graver pa je krone in napise z laserjem izrezal iz pločevine jedkanih delov. Najmanjša kronica je široka komaj 1,8mm.
The car is called King Cobra-Twin Turbo Hybrid (TTH) and its emblem is a crown. My friend “Modus” is responsible for the overall design, and I had an engraver cut the crowns and the signs out of the metal of etched parts with a laser. The smallest crown is merely 1.8mm wide.
15. PODVOZJE – THE CHASSIS
Za vpetje koles sem izdelal peste in sicer iz koles od He-111(Italeri) in ohišja kemičnega svinčnika.
To anchor the wheels, I made pests out of He-111 wheels (Italeri) and out of the housing of a pen.
Zavore in zavorni diski so iz stirena.
The brakes and brake disks are made from styrene.
Pogonske osi in obese so iz injekcijskih igel.
The drive axles and suspensions are made out of injection needles.
16. DRUGI DETAJLI IN IZPUŠNE CEVI – OTHER DETAILS AND THE EXHAUST PIPES
V sprednje blatnike sem vgradil tkim.škrge; pokrov tanka za gorivo je iz foto jedkanega dela PE-12 od Fw-190.
I built air difusors in the front fenders; the fuel tank cover is made out of a PE-12 photo-etched part of the Fw-190.
Za izpušne cevi sem uporabil injekcijske igle debeline 1,8mm.
For exhaust pipes, I used 1.8mm thick injection needles.
